Nikon announced the test results/compatibility of their software packages with the latest Mac OS X version 10.11 (El Capitan):

New installation of the following software applications under OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” is not possible. The results indicated below are based on testing when applications were installed under a version of OS X prior to OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” and OS X was then upgraded to OS X 10.11 “El Capitan”.
As some applications cannot be used, please consider upgrading to OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” carefully until we are able to release compatible versions.

Full FastRawViewer functionality is provided for all Nikon cameras listed below. Both Mac OS X (10.6+) and Windows (7-10, XP, Vista) platforms are supported. Do you have RAW shots from Nikon camera(s) in NEF format that you have to quickly view, evaluate, and sort? FastRawViewer is the tool you need. Finally Nikon has made a software that works on OS X (Panther 10.3.3 in my case). This version feels like it did in OS 9 with my Super CoolScan 4000. It's as fast and responsive as it was back then. A lens will attach to a Nikon D90 using a Nikon F-mount. This means that any lens that you buy, whether its wide-angle, standard, or telephoto, needs to be an F-Mount. You will remove the cap on the front of the camera body and fit the lens into place with a twist and a snap. The Nikon D90 includes a Sports mode, which automatically activates a number of settings that can help you photograph a moving object, whether it’s an athlete, a race car, or a romping dog. Capturing action without blur, like in sports photography, requires a fast shutter speed. In Sports mode, the camera automatically chooses that fast.

Software	Test results
ViewNX-i (including ViewNX-Movie Editor)	We have confirmed that there are no problems with basic operation of Ver. 1.0.1. However, movies cannot be previewed with ViewNX-Movie Editor. We plan to add compatibility with OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” to the next version and its installer.
Capture NX-D	We have confirmed that there are no problems with operation of Ver. 1.2.1. We plan to add installer compatibility with OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” to the next version.
Picture Control Utility 2	We have confirmed that there are no problems with operation of Ver. 2.1.1. We plan to add installer compatibility with OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” to the next version.
Nikon Message Center 2	We have confirmed that there are no problems with operation of Ver. 2.1.1. We plan to add installer compatibility with OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” to the next version.
Camera Control Pro 2	Testing of Ver. 2.22.0 has shown that the computer (OS) does not recognize the camera. Therefore, this application cannot be used. We plan to add compatibility with OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” to the next version and its installer.
Wireless Transmitter Utility (originally named the WT-4 Setup Utility)	Testing of Ver. 1.5.5 has shown that the computer (OS) does not recognize the camera. Therefore, this application cannot be used. We plan to add compatibility with OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” to the next version and its installer.
ViewNX 2	We have confirmed that there are no problems with operation of Ver. 2.10.3. However, no further updates for this application are planned.
Capture NX 2	We have confirmed that there are no problems with operation of Ver. 2.4.7a. However, no further updates for this application are planned.
Short Movie Creator	We have confirmed that there are no problems with operation of Ver. 1.4.0. However, no further updates for this application are planned.
IPTC Preset Manager	We have confirmed that there are no problems with operation of Ver. 1.0.0. However, no further updates for this application are planned.
GP-N100 Utility	As the computer (OS) does not recognize the GPS Unit GP-N100, this application cannot be used. However, no further updates for this application are planned.

Nikon released their standard compatibility update plan for Mac OS X version 10.11 (El Capitan). Here is the list of supported and not-supported products (testing not completed yet):

We plan to examine OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” compatibility for the software applications listed below. We will announce our findings once testing is complete. We cannot guarantee the compatibility of these applications with OS X 10.11 “El Capitan” until we have completed testing.
